The Specialist
Knows a lot about a specific market or sector, and can construct a trading strategy that benefits from all the products that are traded within that market or sector.
The Specialist is very often someone who has worked in financial markets and has a lot of experience trading a specific asset class, product or instrument. They can look across time periods, physical locations, volatility surfaces and trading venues to find opportunities to trade arbitrages or spreads or to position themselves relative to market positioning and upcoming news events. Typically they trade their own asset class, product or instrument almost exclusively as that is where they have an edge.
